Japanese people are good at improving existing technologies in much greater scale together with sophisticated production techniques to make higher quality goods, which are welcomed by many consumers throughout the world, as can be seen in electronic products and automobiles.

Since I have worked with a large watch manufacturer as a research and development engineer for more than 10 years, I realize that Japanese engineers regard technology as a form of art, and treat embodied products as art works in which the spirit of an artist is infused.

Yukimi Hayafune, CEO of TWS, studied electrical engineering at Hosei Graduate School. Yukimi worked for a large watch manufacturer for almost 14 years, being engaged in designing and making specifications of watches for divers. Through her work, she came to realize the importance of producing good manuals for consumers. She also took charge of checking English manuals, which were translated by freelance translators, whereby she learned how to produce technical documents in English.

Besides running TWS as CEO, Yukimi specializes in technical translation and teaches technical writing at Hosei University as an assistant professor and at Fellow Academy, which is a private translation school. Both schools are in Tokyo.
